This painting was inspired by the life and work of Tupac Amaru Shakur.  I have been listening to Tupac’s music for over a decade and believe he has taught this generation valuable lessons much like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.  Tupac spoke of poverty, equality and justice and his message continues to educate and guide the youth of today.  Because his honesty and spirit remains strongly felt by many, Tupac, in essence, is still alive.  As he once said: “We don’t die, we multiply.”  His life and work lives on.  I hope that through capturing Tupac’s spirit in Pop ARF I will be able to further carry his message and support the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts.  “Tupaw/Muttaveli” serves to connect one of my inspirations to my subject of choice in order to further carry a positive message of hope and justice to those who view my art.
